FUEL SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

In a vapour hazard area (this includes areas for refuelling/defuelling):

* ensure adequate ventilation

* display appropriate warning signs in prominent positions

* exclude from the area any potential source of sparks or ignition (engine or electrically powered ground equipment, power tools, electrical vacuum cleaners.)

* do not non-approved battery-operated equipment, matches and cigarette lighters, nylon clothing and zips, nailed or metal studded footwear, etc.

* before refuelling/defuelling, check that the aircraft is parked in an approved fuel area or in the open air.

What is wrong with the way the notes are written according to the maintenance manager?

 

1. THE APPLIANCE SHOULD INITIALLY BE ISOLATED FROM THE MAIN SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY IN ORDER TO OBVIATE THE RISK OF DANGEROUS ELECTRIC SHOCK HAPPENING.

2. DISMOUNT UNIT FROM WALL SO AS TO FACILITATE SERVICING PROCEDURE OF UNIT.

3.YOU SHOULD CAREFULLY REMOVE THE FOUR SCREWS FASTENING THE COVER OF THE UNIT AND LIFT THE COVER TO REVEAL THE APPLIANCE. YOU MUST REMOVE THE FAN.

4. EMPLOYING A BRUSH, BLOWER OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF SUITABLE CLEANING DEVICE OR MATERIAL, ANY ACCUMULATIONS OF DIRT, DUST FLUFF OR FOREIGN OBJECTS SHOULD BE REMOVED, WHILST BEING VERY CAREFUL AT THE SAME TIME TO ENSURE THAT ANY DAMAGE TO INTERNAL CONNECTIONS, SAFETY CUT-OUTS, THERMOSTATS OR OTHER INTERNAL COMPONENTS WITHIN THE HEATING APPLIANCE IS AVOIDED.

5. APPLY A FEW DROPS OF A36 LIGHT MACHINE OIL TO THE BEARINGS AT EACH END OF THE MOTOR, MAKING SURE THAT YOU DON`T CONTAMINATE OTHER AREAS OR COMPONENTS WITH LUBRICANT.

6. THE COVER OF THE APPLIANCE MUST NOW BE REPLACED BACK ON THE BASE AND THEN RESECURED WITH THE FOUR FIXING SCREWS. YOU MAY NOW REMOUNT THE APPLIANCE IN ITS POSITION ON THE WALL.
